Just Me

Disappointing 2 元黑輪

Our second stop is Fort Provintia. The entry fee costs 20 TWD. If you love historical place, then this will be a great place for you.

I was excited when I saw my family name  printed on the board.

Opposite the Fort Provintia, there is a store named 浮水魚羹. We went to try their famous dish. Honestly, I love the dish. The soup is sticky. It tastes a bit sour due to the vinegar. The fish crumbs are firm and nice.

石精臼蚵仔煎

I love this shrimp meat ball. The shrimp inside is huge and fresh. Moreover, there is a beautiful lady who served us with her beautiful smile.

蝦仁肉圓

I love the soup of this bihun. It tastes so fresh without any additive.

小卷米粉

富勝號碗粿

Our forth stop is 神農街  (Xiang Nong Jie). That place is famous for its traditional building. However, the weather was not good that day. It rained heavily upon our arrival. So, we did not manage to take any good photo. A good uncle from this ice cream store gave us the shelter. So, I ordered an red bean ice cream from the store. Thank you, uncle. :)

Since the weather was not good, we decided to have an eye tour on the bus. At the last stop, the bus driver allowed us to go to the beach for 10 minutes. After saying goodbye to the beach, we boarded on the bus. We had a satisfactory adventure that day. With heavy and tired footsteps, we went back to our hostel in Kaoshiung.

Sitting on the high speed railway. On our way to Taichung.

Woke up early in the morning, got into the high speed railway, wa la.. , we were heading to Taichung. After reaching Taichung train station, we saw promotional brochure that include return bus ticket to sun moon lake, Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village ticket. We bought it since it was a pretty good deal.

Reaching the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village.

On a fake hot air balloon. Well, I became dizzy after sitting on this. I tried out the pirate ship, came down with my legs shivering. It was the scariest ride I had ever had.

I had my first archery lesson. I managed to shoot the blue spot.

We went to try on the traditional clothes, we got the offer price which is TWD 200. I was lucky to be able to try on 2 types of traditional costume.

We took a cable car down to sun moon river. I did not take any photos of sun moon river due to the exhaustion. The sky started to turn grey upon our arrival. We took a cruise tour - the fee was included inside the offer I stated. Unfortunately, I lost my ticket, I need to bought for a new one in order to board. At around 6pm, we went to Taichung and found our shelter. The place that we lived was a bit weird. In order to go up to our room, we need to pass through a Japanese restaurant. After settled down, we went food hunting. The Chung Xiao night market was just below our apartment so it was very convenient.

Mimicking the art works.

 Day 1
We took the afternoon flight from KL to Taiwan. The flight was 4 hours long. We reached Taiwan at 10.05 pm. We are kinda unlucky. Taiwan airport was under renovation, so, one of the runaway was being closed down for construction purpose. We waited for an hour long on the plane for the permission to land down. Airplanes were lining up sides by sides. After we touched down, we ran to the custom, hoping to catch the last bus. It was a busy night, the custom were full of people. After picking up our luggage, we rushed to the lower ground floor. Fortunately, the 统联客运's counter did not close, we bought the tickets to Kaoshiong. Since the bus will only departed at 2.00 am, we went to the nearest convenience store for early breakfast. It was our first meal in Taiwan.

Day 2
Around 7.00 am, we reached Kaoshiong Train Station. Since it was too early for us to do anything (stores open at 9 a.m.-10 a.m.), we had breakfast at 7-11. Without GPS, finding our place of staying was consider a tough task. With the help of locals, we were able to reach the place safely. Our host had greeted us welcome. She explained and gave us clear instructions. Blessed with good luck, the host gave us the entire room without increasing the rental. Thus, we end up to have 2 toilets, 3 double beds and 3 double deckers. After cleaning up and a small nap, we went out to explore. Topped up our youyou card, we headed to Kaoshiong Light House. In order to double up the fun, we rented the bicycles. It turned out to be a thrilling experience because we were unfamiliar with the traffic rules. Besides, it was my first time cycling the couple bicycle. My friend at the back screamed throughout the journey. >.<

I thought my cycling experience in USM would allow me to counter this monster. Yet, I was wrong. T^T

We hiked up to the mountain for this view.

We went to the Chijin Tunnel of Star. It was too bright for us to see the beautiful patterns inside tunnel. ( Do visit the tunnel when it was dark ). With disappointment, we left the island.

Our friends told us to try this. （福泉棉花冰）It was chilling and yummy. The mangos were sweet. The ice melted instantaneously after sending it to our mouth.

After a small break, we went to the art centre. (駁二藝術特區)

Transformer at the art area.

I travelled to Taiwan with my three girls on 1/7/2015. It was a 12 days and 11 nights tour. We had done a lot of homework before we reached Taiwan. A lot of discussion and concerns were being spoken out. Things you shall do before you went backpacking. Make sure you are traveling with a group of friends who you have common interest with. The accommodation was paid and the transport was settled beforehand. The accommodation was booked through airbnb. With the help of airbnb, we managed to lower down our accommodation costs to RM500. I would include the information of the places in the following posts. ( However, there are some uncertified accommodation in airbnb. Please select the accommodation with the best review.  A piece of advice for Malaysians who plan to go to Taiwan. If you are living around Kuala Lumpur (KL), remember to pay a visit to Taiwan Tourism Centre in Raja Chulan. By showing them your flight tickets and your place of staying, you are able to get a free youyou card ( Taiwan's Touch and go) and a few Kashiong light rail tickets for FREE.  Besides, check and renew your passport before you go anywhere.  Last but not least, make sure that you follow your airlines in Facebook. We travelled with Airasia as it offers the cheapest flight. Normally, return ticket from KL to Taiwan costs around RM1500. During promotion, the price of the ticket will reduce to minimum RM400++.  Please bring along USD when you are traveling to Taiwan. The changing rate for Malaysia Ringgit to Taiwan Dollar is very low. You are able to change USD in any bank. Specific bank is needed if you change from other currency.
